Metro Detroit: Newsmakers Sept. 27, 2010

p>Detroit Free Press:

There will be plenty more local sights and sounds during Tuesday's episode of ABC's "Detroit 1-8-7," including Dick Purtan's longtime on-air partner (Big) Al Muskavito. Muskavito, who delivers a few critical lines as a polka band leader on the second episode of the made-in-Detroit cop series, tells Names & Faces that shooting scenes with "1-8-7" stars James McDaniel and Shaun Majumder was exhilarating. "It's really different than being on radio where you can hide from everyone," says the 55-year-old Muskavito, who spent 19 years crafting a plethora of zany characters and voices before Purtan signed off of WOMC-FM (104.3) on March 26 and retired his radio show. Muskavito, who says Purtan is fabulous and enjoying his new life, admits he was nervous when he auditioned for the "1-8-7" role July 13, but had a lot of fun once he was shooting on the Detroit Princess, in the riverboat's ballroom, July 21... Dick Purtan's (Big) Al does 'Detroit 1-8-7' (Mon, 9/27)
