LIN Media has picked up the CoolTV multicast network in 11 of its 17 markets encompassing six million TV homes, 5.2% of all TV homes, according to Cool Music Network, the startup behind the network. Combined with Sinclair (33 markets) and Journal Broadcast Group (nine markets), the LIN deal puts the eclectic 24/7 music network in a total of 53 markets and extends its reach to approximately 30% of all U.S. TV homes, according to Cool Music COO David Hampe. The LIN markets: Indianapolis; Hartford, Conn.; Grand Rapids, Mich.; Albuquerque, N.M.; Austin, Texas; Providence, R.I.; Toledo, Ohio; Ft. Wayne, Ind.; Springfield, Mass.; Terre Haute, Ind.; and Lafayette, Ind. CoolTV is customized for each market to reflect the local demographics and music scenes.
