Red Wings, Pistons broadcasts on Fox Sports Detroit return to DISH subscribers
Dispute between FOX and DISH reaches resolution, 'long term' agreement reached
The DISH and FOX Networks earlier today announced a wide-ranging distribution agreement to provide the third-largest video distributor in the United States with continued access to programming from Fox Broadcasting and Fox local television stations in major cities. The agreement also included carriage of FX, National Geographic Channel, and Fox's 19 regional sports networks, which were restored for DISH Network viewers Friday.
On FOX Sports Detroit, Dish customers will be able to once again enjoy 150 pro games this season among the Detroit Red Wings and Detroit Pistons, action from the Central Collegiate Hockey Association, area college basketball featuring the University of Detroit Mercy and Oakland University, and exclusive coverage of Michigan High School Athletic Association championship events.
The public-radio operations at the University of Michigan and Eastern Michigan University both wrapped up their fall fund drives recently, and both exceeded their goals. WEMU (89.1-FM), the public-radio station at Eastern, notched its most successful fund drive ever. In an announcement on its website, WEMU reports: "Because of your generosity, WEMU surpassed it's on-air fundraising goal of $150,000, making Fall 2010 the most successful pledge drive in WEMU history! "Thanks for believing in community public radio; for jazz, news, and blues. WEMU's success is a reflection of you and your community support."
Meanwhile, Michigan Radio, the public radio service of the University of Michigan, exceeded its goal of $915,000. Michigan Radio encompasses WUOM (91.7-FM) in Ann Arbor along with additional stations based in Flint and Grand Rapids... Michigan Radio, WEMU exceed fund-raising goals (Fri, 10/29)
