The Michigan Association of Broadcasters (MAB) and Michigan Association of Public Broadcasters (MAPB) will produce and distribute the inauguration of Governor-elect Rick Snyder and other elected state officials on January 1, 2011 from 12:00 p.m. (noon) - 1:00 p.m. The program will be the first inauguration to be offered in High Definition Television. It will be available on over 75 local television and radio stations across the state, streamed on their websites and fed in the standard digital format for stations that are airing bowl games and wish to record and air the program at a later time. The broadcast of this inauguration will be aired more widely than any other inauguration in Michigan history.

MAB will provide a hosted feed for the full hour with journalist Rick Pluta, Capitol Bureau Chief and voice of the Michigan Public Radio Network, along with special guest commentator, Kelly Rossman-McKinney of The Rossman Group, a Lansing-based public relations firm. Visit the MAB web site at michmab.com for the audio.

There is at least one commercial television and radio station, along with public radio and TV, carrying the inauguration in every market.

"The broadcast of this event demonstrates the cooperative spirit that Governor-elect Snyder says it will take to solve our problems as a state," says Karole White, President/CEO of the MAB. "Broadcasters have set aside competition and affiliations to bring the inauguration to citizens. If we can do it, then any group should be able to work together to find solutions to some of the state's most pressing issues."

"Broadcasters are expanding their reach by texting the latest headlines, using social media, offering video and audio streaming plus in-depth news articles on their websites. Broadcasters serve their communities and are known for their dedication to public safety through the emergency alert system. Broadcasters offer the best of all worlds in both traditional and new media," says White. "We are so pleased to be able to use the new HD technology for the inauguration."

The Michigan Association of Broadcasters thanks Detroit Public Television and WKAR-AM-FM-DT who are using their technology to provide the inauguration to all commercial and public broadcasters.
