Sales and Transactions: November 2010 Archives


• The FCC approved the sale of FM translator W225BB 92.9 Battle Creek to Swick Broadcasting from Horizon Christian Fellowship. The sale price was $10,000 and the transfer application states that Swick would rebroadcast religious WYBA FM 90.1 Coldwater on the currently silent translator.


WHPR-FM 88.1 Highland Park was granted a construction permit to change power from 11 to 12 watts and slightly relocate its transmitter.


• No notable activity for October 27 - 28.



• Kalamazoo Broadcasting (aka Kuiper Broadcasting), owner of WKPR AM 1420 Kalamazoo, is paying $80,000 to Langford Broadcasting, owner of WDOW AM 1440 Dowagiac, as part of an agreement that would take WDOW off the air permanently and have WKPR move to AM 1440 and increase power from 1,000 to 2,700 watts during daytime hours.


• New station WCDY FM 107.9 McBain/Cadillac was granted its license to cover.



• The FCC has approved the sale of WVHF AM 1140 Kentwood/Grand Rapids to Holy Family Radio from bankruptcy receivership. Sale price was $310,000.


• No notable activity for November 2.



• The FCC has cancelled the licenses for 50 of 51 LPTV analog stations owned by MS Communications in Traverse City, Sault Ste. Marie, Petoskey, Ludington, Cadillac, and Houghton Lake.


WOLP-LD Ch. 41 (PSIP Ch. 27) Grand Rapids was granted its license to cover. The station had been operating in analog on Ch. 27 from its now licensed Barry County location with special temporary authority prior to moving to digital.



• The FCC has opened a new Class A FM allocation for Onekama (Manistee County) on 93.3. FCC Report and Order (.pdf)



• Public WCML-FM 91.7 Alpena was granted its license to cover to modify its effective radiated power to 92,000 watts @ 1,194 feet from 100,000 watts @ 1,171 feet.


• No notable activity for November 8 - 10.



• Rock WZUU FM 92.5 Mattawan/Kalamazoo was granted a construction permit to change ERP from 6,000 watts @ 322 feet to 4,700 feet @ 364 feet. The station's pattern will remain directional.


• No notable activity for November 15 - 17.



• The FCC approved the assignment of license for FM translator W285DY 104.9 Ludington to MMP1, LLC from Craig Bowman. There was no exchange of real property and no financial consideration.



• A license to cover for FM translator W237CZ 95.3 to change community of license from Hudsonville to Grand Rapids and increase antenna height from 138 to 184 feet was granted. The translator rebroadcasts WPRR AM 1680 Ada.


• No notable activity for November 22 - 24 and 26.
