• CBS affliate WJMN-TV Ch. 3 Escanaba has been operating at 20% of its full authorized power since October 26th after some of its digital equipment sustained damage from severe storms and accompanying strong winds that occured in the U.P. Damaged equipment has been sent back to the manufacturer in France for evaluation and repair and WJMN-TV has applied for special temporary authority to operate at reduced power until repairs can be completed. Just weeks before the storm damage occured, WJMN-TV had completed the construction of its full power, full market coverage digital facilities.

 

• Grand Traverse Area Catholic Schools is selling the construction permit for WTCY FM 88.3 Greilickville / Traverse City to Baraga Broadcasting for $10,000 pending FCC approval and closing. Baraga owns religious/Catholic WTCK FM 90.9 Charlevoix, WIDG AM 940 St. Ignace and two FM translators in northern Michigan.

 

• No notable activity for November 30 and December 1.

 

 

• Talk WSRJ FM 105.5 Honor/Traverse City was granted a construction permit to increase effective radiated power from 4,700 (Class A) to 17,200 watts (Class C3).

 

• College WLNZ FM 89.7 Lansing was granted a construction permit to increase power from 420 watts @ 98 feet to 1,000 watts @ 109 feet with a directional antenna. A similar construction permit was to expire in October, 2010 before being completed.

 

• The FCC approved the sale of the silent WMTE AM 1340 Manistee to Roy E. Henderson from Lake Michigan Broadcasting for $30,225.

 

 

• FM translator W226BB Ludington has been granted a construction permit to change frequency from 93.1 to 92.7 as W224CA, change power from 27 watts @ 243 feet to 40 watts @ 331 feet with a location change within Mason County south of Ludington. The translator rebroadcasts classic rock WWKR FM 94.1 Hart.

 

• West Central Michigan Media Ministries has closed on its purchase of the construction permit for WZMI FM 91.9 Reed City. This station will likely not sign on; instead West Central plans on expanding the coverage of its religious WGCP FM 91.9 Cadillac.

 

• No notable activity for December 6 - 8.

 

 

• The application to assign the construction permit for LPTV station WYHD-LP Ch. 5 Escanaba to Hispanic Family Christian Network by Confesora Peralta has been dismissed.

 

 

• Freelancer Television Broadcasting was granted a construction permit for a new digital low power TV station on Channel 14 to be licensed to Lake City. W14DR-D would operate with 425 watts @ 525 feet from an antenna located east of Cadillac.

 

• Contemporary Christian WSMZ FM 88.3 Crystal Valley/Hart was a construction permit to increase effective radiated power from 1,100 to 1,500 watts.

 

WRAX FM 98.9 Lake Isabella/Mt. Pleasant has applied to the FCC for remain silent authority. The station, owned by Radioactive, LLC, previously had received remain silent authority for the year between November 13, 2009 and November 13, 2010 and its most recent application states the station went silent again on November 10th, 2010. Its not clear if this station has ever operated.

 

 

• Recent sign-on contemporary Christian WSMZ FM 88.3 Crystal Valley/Hart was granted its license to cover. The station is part of the statewide Smile FM network.

 

 

• Pop WJSZ FM 92.5 Ashley was its license to cover for a power increase from 2,000 to 4,000 watts and change to a directional antenna.

 

• FM translator W236BK 95.1 Forest Hills was granted a construction permit to move to 95.3 as W237BW, change location and increase power from 10 to 250 watts. The translator is owned by WYGR, LLC and the application states it would rebroadcast WFUR-FM 102.9 Grand Rapids.

 

• No notable activity for December 15.

 

 

• The FCC and The Ovid-Elsie Area Schools have entered into a Consent Decree concerning self-reported public file violations during the 2004 license renewal process for WOES FM 91.3 Ovid-Elsie. Among other stipulations, the school district will be making a voluntary $10,000 contribution to the U.S. Treasury via monthly installments and the FCC will grant the station's license renewal once all payments have been made.

 

 

• Clean Air Broadcasting was granted a construction permit for a new non-commercial FM station at 90.9 to be licensed to Escanaba. The Class C1 station would operate with 100,000 watts (vertical polarization) at 217 feet with a directional antenna in Menominee County.

 

 

• The construction permit for WSPB FM 89.7 Bedford (Battle Creek area) was modified from 750 watts @ 233 feet (Class A) to 8,100 watts @ 233 (Class B1) with a modified directional antenna pattern.

 

 

• Holy Family Radio has closed on its purchase of WVHF AM 1140 Kentwood. The station was purchased out of bankruptcy for $310,000.

 

• FM translator W225BB 92.9 Battle Creek was granted a construction permit to increase power from 10 to 250 watts and relocate to just south of Battle Creek. The application shows the translator would rebroadcast WYBA FM 90.1 Coldwater.
