Flint Journal:

John Rhadigan, who worked as a sports reporter and anchor for television station Channel 12 (WJRT) in Flint, has been named as the Texas Rangers new television play-by-play announcer. Several Web sites and blogs reported the hiring as well as Rhadigan's Flint connection. Flint Journal files say Rhadigan is a Flint native who graduated from Oakland University. He joined Channel 12 in 1984, working for the station until early 1990 when he accepted a job with a Forth Worth, Texas television station. The Rangers' Web site says Rhadigan grew up in Michigan, listening to Ernie Harwell broadcasting Detroit Tigers' games.

"When you think about broadcasting in Detroit, you think about Ernie Harwell," Rhadigan said in a posting on the team Web site. "To have a job that he had is really exciting to me. It's a childhood dream to do this kind of job"... Former WJRT sports anchor John Rhadigan hired as Texas Rangers play-by-play voice (Thu, 1/20)
