Morning news anchor Emily Linnert is returning to WOOD TV (Channel 8) on Feb. 3. Linnert, who co-anchored 24 Hour News 8 Daybreak with Brett Thomas, was on maternity leave since November and will return to her co-anchor position with Thomas. Linnert gave birth to a baby girl, Olive, which is her second child. She's been with the station since 2006... Grand Valley State University and Clear Channel Communications of West Michigan agreed to a five-year extension Tuesday that will run through 2016. The partnership gives Clear Channel the broadcast rights to GVSU football and men's and women's basketball games, in addition to other select programming. WMUS-FM (107.9) will continue to be the flagship station for football and men's basketball. Starting next season, women's basketball primarily will air on WTKG-AM (1230).

"We value our relationship with Grand Valley State University athletics and we look forward to our new programming opportunities," Clear Channel vice president Tim Feagan said in a news release.

"We are excited about Clear Channel's long term commitment to Grand Valley State Athletics," GVSU athletic director Tim Selgo said. "This partnership allows us the ability for growth in the market place through the radio dial."
