• Coolarity A2, LLC is purchasing talk WAAM AM 1600 Ann Arbor from Ann Arbor First Ventures LP for $1,050,000 pending FCC approval and closing. The sale will put the station in the hands of an independent local owner for the first time since 2003 when Lloyd Johnson sold the station to First Broadcasting Partners.
The new owner is the current station general manager Linda Hughes, who in a statement commented, "Ownership of WAAM is an exciting next step for me personally and for the station. I am proud of the show lineup and features we've been able to bring to WAAM and I am thrilled about the future possibilities for WAAM to better serve our local communities and local advertisers."
Hughes is married to Thayrone, host of WAAM's afternoon show "On The Edge With Thayrone".
