WJRTBill Harris, one of Michigan's most respected television journalists, has been told his services are no longer wanted at ABC affiliate WJRT-TV Channel 12 in Flint.

The station was recently acquired by SJL Broadcasting from Disney; SJL closed on the sale and took control of WJRT earlier this month. Other changes at the station since the sale was announced include the retirement of General Manager Tom Bryson and the reported departure of News Director Jim Bleicher. Weekend anchor Joel Feick, a WJRT veteran of over 25 years, has also been released by the new ownership company.

Harris had been with with WJRT since 1977, receiving numerous awards for his work and community involvement. In 2008, Harris documented his successful battle with prostate cancer for the station.

The Flint Journal first reported on the story this evening, and later followed up by speaking with Bill Harris.
