Artistic Media Partners flips Michiana rocker

It appears that Zow (WZOW FM 97.7 Goshen) has gone pow in the South Bend, Indiana market as Artistic Media Partners has dropped the classic/mainstream rock format on that station in favor of a simulcast of classic hits 'The Stream' WSMM FM 102.3 New Carlisle. The call sign of FM 97.7 was changed from WZOW to WSSM on Wednesday, April 6th.

Since acquiring FM 102.3 nearly 10 years ago, Artistic Media has adjusted the formats and simulcasting status of 102.3 and 97.7 numerous times - however this change removes the Zow name and heavier rock format from FM 97.7 for the first time since Artistic Media purchased it in 2001.

WXYZ-TV and Yahoo! partner to connect potential customers to businesses

WXYZ A collaboration between WXYZ-TV Ch. 7 Detroit parent the E.W. Scripps Company and Yahoo! will add Yahoo!'s digital display inventory to the portfolio of products sold by the advertising reps at Scripps television stations. WXYZ and Cleveland's WEWS are the first Scripps stations to participate in the program. In addition, the Scripps stations provide market-specific content to Yahoo! properties, including the Yahoo! homepage. Scripps is also a founding member of the Yahoo! Newspaper Consortium.

WXYZ-TV's web site (wxyz.com) reported 2,738,000 unique visitors in December 2010, according to comScore.

"WXYZ and WEWS have long been pioneers that know how to deliver large and engaged audiences," said Brian Lawlor, senior vice president of television, "but the partnership with Yahoo! takes the stations' commitment to the local businesses of Detroit and Cleveland to a significantly higher level. Marrying one of America's oldest media companies with one of the world's savviest new-media brands is great for both organizations, but the real winners are the businesses in Michigan and Ohio who have an effective new way to boost their revenues."
