WDIV Detroit plans April local specials

WDIVWDIV Ch. 4 Detroit has scheduled several local specials for viewers in April. On Thursday, April 7th at 8:30 the station will present "Dateline Detroit", showcasing how adversity can be turned into something positive. The program, hosted by Carmen Harlan and Devin Scillian will feature a local doctor who has pioneered a kidney dialysis breakthrough, a Red Wings superstar's amazing medical gift, and a creative movement going on right now in our hometown that is already showing the world that Detroit is headed back.

On Sunday April 10th at 12:30 p.m., a 30-minute pregame show 'Red Alert!" will highlight the National Hockey League's Detroit Red Wings as they prepare to end the regular season and head to the Stanley Cup Playoffs. NBC's coverage of the Wings taking on the Chicago Blackhawks will follow at 1 p.m. on Channel 4.

Chuck Gaidica is set to host "Extreme Weather: What's Going On?" on Thursday, April 21 at 8:30 p.m., talking with experts on global warming. From severe snowstorms to heat waves, floods and more, you'll see dramatic video of wild weather captured on camera as Local 4 investigates the impact on our storm season here at home.

Finally, WDIV will present "All 4 Mother's Day", a primetime half-hour Local 4 special celebrating moms on Thursday, April 28 at 8:30 p.m.

 

The station has also been enjoying a continued run of ratings success with its evening newscasts. WDIV has claimed ratings victories at 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. during the March 2011 Nielsen ratings period in the Detroit television market. Local 4 News at 4pm, anchored by Ruth Spencer, finished #1 in its time period as well.
