Linda Yohn--music director at WEMU (89.1-FM), the public-radio station at Eastern Michigan University--was named Jazz Programmer of the Year in a major market, for the third straight year, on Saturday at the JazzWeek Summit's annual awards brunch in Rochester, NY.

Mark Copeland, a program host and music director on radio's WQKL (107.1-FM), has been let go from the station. Copeland is no longer listed on the station's website, and both Copeland and the station, known as "Ann Arbor's 107one," confirmed via email that his employment ended last week. Program director Chris Ammel said Copeland was laid off as a downsizing move and there is "no word on a replacement at this time."

Detroit News:

Talk radio host Frank Beckmann said today he's decided not to run as a Republican against U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow in 2012. Beckmann announced the decision on his talk show on WJR-AM (760).
