• The FCC approved the sale of FM translator W239AX 95.7 Camden from Family Stations to Midwest Communications. Sale price was $40,000. Plans are for the translator to move to FM 95.5 and rebroadcast Midwest's WTVB AM 1590 Coldwater.




• Coolarity A2, LLC has closed on the $1.05M purchase of talk WAAM AM 1600 Ann Arbor from Ann Arbor First Ventures LP.


• Central Michigan University's PBS affiliate WCMZ-TV Ch. 28 Flint was granted its license to cover for a power increase from 126,000 to 500,000 watts.



• Houghton Community Broadcasting has closed on the purchase of Houghton radio stations classic hits WOLV-FM 97.7, country WHKB-FM 102.3, and standards WCCY AM 1400 from Heartland Communications.


• The FCC issued Adrian College a $250 monetary forfeiture for untimely renewal application filing for its WVAC-FM 107.9 Adrian. Forfeiture Order (.pdf)



• Storm damage to one of the towers used at night by country WBCK AM 930 Battle Creek has resulted in the station reducing its nighttime power from 1,000 to 250 watts using its single daytime tower while repairs are made.




• Interlochen Center for the Arts has received a license to cover for recent sign on Public News/Talk WHBP FM 90.1 Harbor Springs. The station simulcasts sister station WICA FM 91.5 Traverse City.




• The license for low power FM WDOW-LP 97.1 Cassopolis was canceled by the FCC. This station was the first to receive a construction permit for a Low Power FM in Michigan in June, 2001 but reportedly did not operate much over the last ten years.




• Adult contemporary WGHN-FM 92.1 Grand Haven was granted its license to cover to change power from 3,000 watts @ 246 feet to 6,000 watts @ 213 feet.




• Mentor Partners new FM translator W236BR 95.1 Reed City was granted a license to cover. The original application shows WYBR-FM 102.3 Big Rapids as the station that would be retransmitted by the translator.




• The FCC approved Calvary Radio Network's purchase of the silent WMJC FM 91.9 Richland from Horizon Christian Fellowship. Sale price was $75,000.


• No notable activity for June 10.



• Plonta Broadcasting is acquiring FM translator W234BP 94.7 Caro from Radio Assist Ministry for $25,000 pending FCC approval and closing. Plonta currently owns/operates religious non-commercial WCTP FM 88.5 Gagetown (Bad Axe).


• Young Broadcasting CBS affiliate WLNS-TV Ch. 6 Lansing was granted a license to cover for its post-transition digital facilities.



• The Contemporary Christian network of Smile FM stations has expanded in the Detroit metro area with the recent sign on of WDTP FM 89.5 Huron Township (Riverview). The FCC has granted the new station its license to cover.




• FM translator W238CD 95.5 Camden was granted its license to cover for a frequency change from 95.7, an increase power from 19 to 250 watts, and location change from north of Reading to south of Quincy.




• Calvary Radio Network has closed on its purchase of WMJC FM 91.9 Richland from Horizon Christian Fellowship.


• No notable activity for June 17 and 20.



• The construction permit for contemporary Christian (K-Love) FM translator W292DK 106.3 Westland was modified to increase height from 348 to 863 feet and change the directional pattern. The translator rebroadcasts WMXD-FM 92.3 HD2.


• Northern Michigan University FM translator of public radio WNMU-FM 90.1 W247BQ 97.3 Stephenson has been granted a construction permit to change frequency to 97.9 as W250BO.


• No notable activity for June 22 and 23.
