• Tribune Broadcasting digital translators of FOX affiliate WXMI-TV Ch. 17 Grand Rapids W17DF-D Ch. 17 Muskegon and W42DB-D Ch. 42 Hesperia were granted their licenses to cover (W42DB-D switched from analog to digital on Ch. 42, W17DF-D switched from analog on Ch. 52 to digital on Ch. 17).

 

• No notable activity for June 27 - 29.

 

 

• The sale of CBS affiliate WJMN-TV Ch. 3 Escanaba along with WFRV-TV Ch. 5 Green Bay, WI to Nexstar Broadcasting from Liberty Media was approved by the FCC.

 

• No notable activity for July 1.

 

 

• Silent FM translator W227AS FM 93.3 Whitehall was granted construction permit to reduce power from 250 to 10 watts. Sale of the translator to First Venture Capital Partners from Horizon Christian Fellowship has been approved but not yet closed.

 

 

 

• CBS-owned WWJ-TV Ch. 62 Detroit was granted its license to cover for its maximized post-transition digital facilities.

 

• The FCC approved the sale of the construction permit for FM 88.5 Constantine (no call sign assigned) to Christian Radio Friends from Living Faith Fellowship and Outreach Ministries. Sale price was $50,000.

 

 

• The construction permit for WUPN FM Paradise was modified to specify FM 95.1 instead of 94.7 from a different tower location closer to Sault Ste Marie.

 

 

 

• Roy E. Henderson (d.b.a. New Ulm Broadcasting Co.) was granted a construction permit for a new low power digital TV station to be licensed to Petoskey on Channel 14. W14DX-D would operate with 15,000 watts @ 938 feet from northwest of Harbor Springs. This is Henderson's fourth digital LPTV construction permit in Northern Michigan.

 

• No notable activity for July 11.

 

 

• Christian Radio Friends has closed on the purchase of the construction permit for FM 88.5 Constantine from Living Faith Fellowship and Outreach Ministries. The expiration date for the CP has been extended by 18 months to January 12, 2013.

 

 

 

• Mentor Partners was granted a construction permit for FM translator W236BR 95.1 Reed City to increase power from 80 to 250 watts and rebroadcast sister station WBRN AM 1460 Big Rapids.

 

 

 

• MacDonald Broadcasting is selling the construction permit for WZTC FM 104.5 Traverse City to Playtime Media, LLC for $1 pending FCC approval and closing. Playtime Media is closely associated with MacDonald Garber Broadcasting, owner of a number of other northern Michigan radio stations. Ken MacDonald, principal owner of MacDonald Broadcasting and Patricia MacDonald Garber, principal of MacDonald Garber Broadcasting are brother and sister.

 

• No notable activity for July 15.

 

 

• Midwest Communications has closed on the purchase of FM translator W238CD 95.5 Camden (was W239AX 95.7) from Family Stations.

 

• Variety hits WUPG FM 96.7 Republic/Marquette was granted its license to cover for a change in effective radiated power from 23,100 watts @ 341 feet (Class C3) to 50,000 watts @ 351 feet (Class C2).

 

• No notable activity for July 19 and 20.

 

 

• Michigan Broadcasters LLC was granted a construction permit for a new FM station to be licensed to Onaway on 106.3. The Class C2 station would operate with 50,000 watts @ 420 feet from a tower located west of Rogers City in Presque Isle County. Michigan Broadcasters LLC won the frequency for $20,000 in an FCC auction held earlier this year.

 

• Low power community FM station WUVS-LP 103.7 Muskegon was granted its license to cover for a location change within Muskegon.

 

• Heritage Broadcasting CBS affiliate WWUP-TV Ch. 10 Sault Ste Marie (satellite station of WWTV-TV Ch. 9) was granted its license to cover to increase power to 25,000 from 20,700 watts.

 

• No notable activity for July 22.

 

 

WPON AM 1460 Walled Lake was granted special temporary authority to remain silent. The station has been off the air for an extended period as it had previously lost the lease on the land for its towers and transmitter.

 

• No notable activity for July 26 and 27.
