• Radio Assist Ministry FM translator W234BP 94.7 Caro was granted a construction permit to change frequency to 105.3 as W287BU, change power from 85 watts @ 33 feet to 250 watts @ 23 feet, and change location from north of Caro in Tuscola County to east of Bay City in Bay County. The translator is being sold by Radio Assist Ministry to Plonta Broadcasting.

 

 

 

• MMP1, LLC is transferring the license of FM translator W285DY 104.9 Ludington to Resort Radio for $100 pending FCC approval and closing.

 

• The FCC granted the sale of FM translator W234BP 94.7 Caro to Plonta Broadcasting from Radio Assist Ministry. Sale price was $25,000.

 

 

• The license for FM translator W254BL 98.7 Manistee owned by Synergy Management Group was canceled by the FCC.

 

 

 

• The construction permit for WQMI FM 91.7 Grand Marais owned by Korkee Inc. was canceled by the FCC.

 

 

 

• The construction permit for WZMI FM 91.9 Reed City was canceled at the request of owner West Central Michigan Media Ministries. The organization plans to upgrade its WGCP FM 91.9 Cadillac in the area.

 

 

 

• Radio Power FM translator W284BQ 104.7 Detroit (smooth jazz WGPR FM 107.5 HD2 Detroit) was granted a construction permit to change frequency to 93.9 as W230BT and decrease height to 33 from 925 feet. Windsor, Ontario's CIDR-FM also operates on 93.9 making it likely this is planned as part of multi-step process to change this translator's frequency.

 

• World Radio Link FM translator W225BA 92.9 Hastings was granted special temporary authority to resume broadcasting at 5 watts from a modified location for which a construction permit has been applied for from the FCC; the translator has been silent for nearly one year. W225BA would rebroadcast WGNB 89.3 Zeeland.

 

 

• Del Reynolds was granted a construction permit for a new FM station to be licensed to Cheboygan on 97.7. The Class C3 station would operate with 3,400 watts @ 499 feet from a tower located east of Cheboygan in Cheboygan County. Reynolds won the frequency for $15,000 in an FCC auction held earlier this year.

 

 

 

• Recent sign on WKKM FM 90.7 Harrison was granted its license to cover. The non-commercial station primarily carries a classic country format.

 

• Silent FM translator W227AS FM 93.3 Whitehall was granted its license to cover to reduce power from 250 to 10 watts.

 

 

• WGHN, Inc. was granted a construction permit for a new FM station to be licensed to Ferryburg on 93.1. The Class A station would operate with 6,000 watts @ 213 feet from a tower located in Grand Haven in Ottawa County. WGHN won the frequency for $100,000 in an FCC auction held earlier this year.

 

 

 

• Ion Television WPXD TV Ch. 31 Ann Arbor was granted its license to cover for its post-transition digital facilities. The station also has a construction permit that was granted in 2009 to move to physical Channel 50 from a new location in Oakland County that would increase the station's coverage area in metro Detroit.

 

• No notable activity for August 11 and 12.

 

 

• Silent WMTE AM 1340 Manistee was granted an extension of its Remain Silent Authorization through October 1, 2011.

 

• No notable activity for August 16.

 

 

• Radio Assist Ministry FM translator W288BT 105.5 St. Clair was granted Remain Silent Authority through December 31, 2011 for financial reasons.

 

• No notable activity for August 18.

 

 

• CF Broadcasting, LLC is purchasing classic country WBMI FM 105.5 West Branch from 105.5FM, LLC for $360,000 pending FCC approval and closing.

 

 

 

• Three televisions were granted licenses to cover for their post-transition digital facilities: ABC affiliate WBUP-TV Ch. 10 Ishpeming/Marquette, CW affiliate WBKP-TV Ch. 5 Calumet, and CBS affiliate WBKB-TV Ch. 11 Alpena.

 

 

 

• Radio One has closed on the purchase of FM translator W260CB 99.9 Hamtramck from Best Media. The translator is expected to be on the air soon rebroadcasting WCHB AM 1200 Taylor/Detroit (via WDMK-FM HD2).

 

• No notable activity for August 24 - 26.

 

 

• Central Michigan University's new FM translator W236BU 95.1 Traverse City was granted its license to cover. The translator rebroadcasts CMU Public Radio's WCMW-FM 103.9 Harbor Springs.
