• Silent WMTE AM 1340 Manistee was granted Special Temporary Authority through March 30, 2012 to resume broadcasting from a temporary location to prevent cancelation of the station's license.

 

• Public/Classical WKAR-FM 90.5 East Lansing was granted its license to cover for changes as the station has moved to a new broadcast tower that was built adjacent to the one the station had been using for decades.

 

 

• Playtime Media, LLC closed on its purchase of Variety Hits WZTC FM 104.5 Traverse City from MacDonald Broadcasting.

 

• ABC affiliate WOTV-TV Ch. 41 Battle Creek was granted a construction permit to change effective radiated power from 270,000 watts @ 1020 feet to 255,000 watts @ 1079 feet.

• Midwest Communications was granted Remain Silent Authority for FM translator W238CD 95.5 Camden through April 2, 2012. The translator lost its previous tower site and is working on a new location.

 

• Educational Media Foundation was granted Remain Silent Authority for FM translator W256AY 99.1 Detroit through April 2, 2012. The translator is off-air due to an interference report from Canada.

 

 

• The FCC approved CF Broadcasting's purchase of Classic Country WBMI FM 105.5 West Branch from 105.5FM, LLC. Sale price was $360,000.

 

 

 

• After apparently operating for a short time, Birach Broadcasting's WPON AM 1460 Walled Lake has notified the FCC that the station has gone silent once again and has applied for Remain Silent Authorization.

 

• Great Lakes Radio oldies WQXO AM 1400 Munising has filed a notification with the FCC that the station has gone silent due to damage to the station's broadcast tower.

 

• No notable activity for October 7.

 

 

• Baraga Broadcasting is purchasing the construction permit for WGZR-FM 89.1 Alpena for $10 from All Saints School pending FCC approval and closing.

 

• Educational Media Foundation silent FM translator W256AY 99.1 Detroit has applied to change frequency to 93.5.

 

• Plonta Broadcasting has closed on its purchase of FM translator W287BU 105.3 Caro from Radio Assist Ministry.

 

• Calvary Chapel of Twin Falls was granted a construction permit for FM translator W216BX 91.1 Benton Harbor (religious CSN Radio; KAWZ-FM Twin Falls, ID) for changes that include moving to a new broadcast tower and change power from 80 watts @ 125 feet to 38 watts @ 180 feet.

 

 

• Resort Radio has closed on the license transfer of FM translator W285DY 104.9 Ludington (rebroadcasts WMLQ FM 97.7 Manistee) from MMP1, LLC.

 

• The FCC approved Baraga Broadcasting's purchase of Northern Christian Radio's silent WRQC FM 91.3 East Tawas. Sale price was $60,000.

 

• No notable activity for October 13 and 14.

 

 

• The FCC ordered Radio Power FM translator W284BQ 104.7 Detroit (operating as "104.7 The Oasis", rebroadcasting Smooth Jazz WPGR-FM HD2) off the air due to unresolved interference issues with Toledo, OH station WIOT-FM 104.7. FCC Letter (.pdf)

 

• Lopester Broadcasting was granted a construction permit for a new FM station to be licensed to Pentwater on 98.7. The Class A station would operate with 5,500 watts @ 342 feet from a tower located south of Ludington in Mason County. Lopester Broadcasting won the frequency for $15,000 in an FCC auction held earlier this year.

 

• NBC affiliate WILX-TV Ch. 10 Onondaga/Lansing was granted its license to cover for its post-transition digital facilities.

 

• World Radio Link FM translator W225BA 92.9 Hastings was its license to cover for a modification of its broadcast location.

 

 

• Northern Star Broadcasting has been granted Remain Silent Authority for its WIHC FM 97.9 Newberry through March 22, 2012 for financial reasons.

 

• Great Lakes Radio oldies WQXO AM 1400 Munising has been Special Temporary Authority to resume broadcasting with modified facilities (lower power) while the station repairs storm damage to its broadcast tower.

 

 

• RJ's Late Night Entertainment, licensee of WHPR-FM 88.1 Highland Park, received a Notice of Apparent Liability for Forfeiture and Order (NAL) from the FCC in the amount of $22,000 for failing to maintain operational EAS equipment, for moving the station's transmitter without Commission authorization, and by failing to maintain and make available a local public inspection file. • Baraga Broadcasting has closed on its purchase of silent WRQC FM 91.3 East Tawas from Northern Christian Radio.

 

 

 

• Radio One FM translator W260CB 99.9 Hamtramck was granted its license to cover for its move from FM 89.1. The translator is rebroadcasting WCHB AM 1200 Taylor/Detroit via WDMK-FM HD2.

 

 

 

• Synergy Media FM translator W224CA 92.7 Ludington (Classic Rock WWKR-FM 94.1 Hart) was granted its license to cover for changes; frequency move from 93.1, power change from 27 watts @ 243 feet to 40 watts @ 331 feet, and a location change within Mason County south of Ludington.
