MAB Announces 2011 Broadcast Excellence Awards Station of the Year Recipients
The Michigan Association of Broadcasters (MAB) has proudly announced the recipients of its 2011 Broadcast Excellence Awards (BEA) Station of the Year. The awards are based on the cumulative number of points scored from the BEA competition's selected categories and is given to the station with the most points in each radio and television market. The awards were presented during the annual Broadcast Excellence Awards Program on Wednesday, March 14 in Lansing. The following stations were the recipients of the 2011 Station of the Year awards:
Commercial broadcasters
• Market 1 Television: WXYZ-TV, Detroit
• Market 1 Radio: WJR-AM, Detroit
• Market 2 Television: WOOD-TV, Grand Rapids
• Market 2 Radio: WKZO-AM/FM, Kalamazoo
• Market 3 Television: WWTV/WWUP-TV, Cadillac/Traverse City
• Market 3 Radio: WLEN-FM, Adrian
• Market 4 Television: WLUC-TV, Marquette
• Market 4 Radio: WGHN-FM, Grand Haven
Public broadcasters
• Public Television: WKAR-TV, East Lansing
• Group 1 Public Radio: WGVU Radio, Grand Rapids
• Group 2 Public Radio: Michigan Radio, Ann Arbor

MAB Foundation Announces 2012 High School and College Station/Program of the Year Award Winners
The Michigan Association of Broadcasters Foundation (MABF) has announced the recipients of its 2012 High School and College Station/Program of the Year Award. Award winners were chosen based on the total cumulative points earned in all winning categories in the 2012 MABF High School and College Broadcast Awards competition. The awards were presented during the Great Lakes Broadcasting Conference and Expo on Wednesday, March 14 in Lansing. The following stations were the recipients of the 2012 Station of the Year Award:
• High School Radio Station/Program of the Year: Golightly Career and Technical Center
• College Radio Station/Program of the Year: Oakland University, WXOU-FM
• High School Television Station/Program of the Year: Rockford High School, RHS-TV
• College Television Station/Program of the Year: Central Michigan University, MHTV
