Don Shane is not used to being in the spotlight. For 38 years -- 23 of them at WXYZ-TV (Channel 7) -- Shane has been the sports reporter asking the tough questions and chasing down the good stories. Now, that's coming to an end. The 59-year-old Baltimore native has retired as the station's sports director. And today, his soon-to-be former co-workers will hold an on-air tribute to him with a series of special goodbyes complete with clips and highlights.

Grand Rapids Press:

WOOD-TV and WZZM-TV won the lion's share of awards for its market in the Michigan Association of Broadcasters' Broadcast Excellence Awards for 2011. WGVU-TV, meanwhile, took four statewide awards for public television, more than any other public TV station in Michigan.
