Grand Rapids Press:

Michigan Radio at the University of Michigan raised $817,000 during its spring membership drive, some 6 percent beyond its goal. Named 2011 Station of the Year by the Michigan Association of Broadcasters for Public Radio Stations with budgets above $2 million, the Michigan Radio Network includes WUOM-FM (91.7) in Ann Arbor, WFUM-FM (91.1) in Flint and WVGR-FM (104.1) in Grand Rapids.

Detroit News:

A Night of Giggles & Gloves II, a benefit for Mittens for Detroit, is 7-10 p.m. Saturday at the Grand Ballroom inside MGM Grand Detroit, 1777 Third St.

To further encourage viewers, a number of local PBS affiliates produced vignettes that run on air and online in conjunction with "Finding Your Roots." In turn, Detroit Public Television WTVS-TV (Channel 56) is spotlighting a few Metro Detroiters with compelling ancestral stories.

Detroit Public Television, WTVS-TV (Channel 56) is launching "MiWeek," a new show that debuts at 7:30 tonight. The news and public affairs program is designed to meet the community's evolving need for a journalism-focused perspective on the top news stories and issues affecting Metro Detroit, the State of Michigan and the Great Lakes region.

Detroit Free Press:

Some years it is a grind, Will Tieman admitted. Tieman, the Michigan State play-by-play radio broadcaster, reflected on the season before Thursday's 57-44 loss to Louisville.

The State News:

The Michigan Association of Broadcasters recently named WKAR-TV the Public Television Station of the Year at the Broadcast Excellence Awards ceremony. The station had seven individual winning entries in the children's programming, community involvement and membership appeal categories among others.
