CBS Sports updates begin in September with 24/7 programming scheduled to begin in January. Clearances in Detroit, Grand Rapids, Flint, and Toledo
CBS Corporation today announced it will be launching CBS Sports Radio, a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week lineup of national programming from CBS Radio and CBS Sports. Cumulus Media was selected as the syndicator and sales partner to secure affiliate agreements and ad sales with radio stations across the country. CBS will also add CBS Radio programming to 67 of its own stations.
CBS is touting that the new effort will be able to reach listeners in nine of the nation's Top 10 markets, with a cumulative audience reach at debut close to 10 million listeners - nearly 90% of them located in Top 50 markets at launch. CBS Sports Radio is designed to enhance CBS's existing sports properties and extend the national reach of the CBS Sports and CBS Radio brands to additional outlets across the country.
In Detroit, WXYT AM 1270 will change its format to CBS Sports Radio on January 2, 2013. WXYT-FM 97.1 will add elements beginning on Tuesday, September 4th including hourly headlines, breaking news and scores from the day's major events and stories.
Outstate, Cumulus' WBBL-FM 107.3 Grand Rapids, WTRX AM 1330 Flint, and WLQR AM 1470 Toledo will broadcast at least some CBS Sports Radio programming.
