Michigan State's WKAR-FM/AM hires Peter Whorf as station manager
Michigan State University announced today that Peter Whorf will join WKAR-FM/AM 90.5/870 East Lansing as radio station manager for the public broadcasting stations on Aug. 27.
Whorf comes to WKAR from WFMT in Chicago, where he has served as program director and vice president for content for the past seven years.
Whorf's broadcasting experience includes serving as program director at WNYC in New York and KBIA in Columbia, Mo. Whorf also worked at WBEZ in Chicago, where he managed news and talk programming.
"Peter Whorf will be a great asset to our WKAR radio stations," said Gary Reid, WKAR general manager. "His incredible background in music programming, uniquely combined with radio news-talk experience, will make him a great addition to our WKAR family."
"We are excited to have Peter Whorf join WKAR and the Michigan State University College of Communication Arts and Sciences leadership team," said Dean Pamela Whitten. "I am confident Whorf will provide the vision and leadership to elevate WKAR's radio stations to new heights of quality programming and innovation."
Whorf earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, N.Y.
