Steve Black had the best of intentions when he and his wife put her name on a charity. For that matter, he had the ideal results. What he hadn't expected from the Sabrina Black Foundation was a direct assault on his memories. The nonprofit, he came to realize, "was helping people, but it was hurting me in the process."

Grand Haven Tribune:
A new radio station has signed on the air in Grand Haven -- Country 93.1 WMPA-FM. "(The station) does something for us that we've never been able to do," station owner Will Tieman said. "It gives us another great nighttime signal for the community. It's another avenue to do more things with, and we're feeling pretty good about it." WMPA officially began broadcasting at noon Tuesday.

An Owosso-based broadcast media company announced this week it has signed an agreement to purchase Flint-based radio station WRSR-FM 103.9. Rod Krol, owner of Krol Communications Inc., said his company plans to purchase the station, pending approval by the FCC and Department of Justice, in order to expand his company and gain a foothold in a metro area.

Ten years ago saw the release of the book, "LOCAL DJ," written by PETER C. CAVANAUGH. A prominently featured DJ in CLEVELAND'S ROCK & ROLL HALL OF FAME, the former broadcast executive helped pioneer the evolution of FM radio in the US. Along the way he helped launch the careers of BOB SEGER, TED NUGENT, ALICE COOPER and many others.
