West Michigan once again is among the Top 40 TV media markets in the United States. Nielsen just released its local television market estimates for 2013 showing the Grand Rapids-Kalamazoo-Battle Creek DMA is the 39th largest in the country.

Linda Yohn, music director and on-air host at WEMU, was named Jazz Programmer of the Year in a major market for the fourth straight year Thursday at the JazzWeek Summit's annual awards dinner in Detroit.

Want to hit the annual Detroit Jazz Festival this weekend but don't want to deal with driving and parking? WEMU and Golden Limousine will again this year offer a shuttle service between Ypsilanti and the festival site, in downtown Detroit around Hart Plaza and Campus Martius. WEMU (89.1-FM), the public-radio station at Eastern Michigan University which plays a lot of jazz, has sponsored the service for the last few years and found it to be a hit.

WXYZ Ch. 7 Detroit to air special on Kilpatrick corruption case
Scripps ABC affiliate WXYZ-TV Detroit '7 Action News Investigators' will take viewers inside the federal public corruption case of former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick in a 7 Action News special, Wednesday, September 5, at 7 p.m. on Channel 7. The half-hour program, "Kilpatrick Corruption Case," uncovers new information about Kilpatrick, his father Bernard Kilpatrick, his friend Bobby Ferguson and former water department director Victor Mercado, who are scheduled to go to trial September 6th.
The program will feature a report from investigator Scott Lewis, who travelled to Kilpatrick's home in Grand Prairie, Texas for an exclusive report on the former mayor and a look at his Texas lifestyle.
