Detroit's morning radio landscape is braced for another shake-up: where the "Dave and Chuck the Freak" show and its lucrative ratings end up. The sudden departure last month of the show's hosts from the Windsor-based alternative-rock station "89X" -- the on-air branding for CIMX 88.7 FM -- with what's thought to be more than two years left on their contract is the latest major local morning radio change since Dick Purtan retired in March 2010 from WOMC FM 104.3 and Jim Harper retired from WMGC 105.1 FM in December 2011.

- An agreement between ABC affiliate WZZM-TV Ch. 13 Grand Rapids owner Gannett and DirecTV on Saturday morning has kept the station available for viewers on the satellite service. As is normally the case, no further information on the agreement has been released publicly.
- Dan Gilbert of Quicken Loans and Rock Ventures LLC, will be guest hosting the Paul W. Smith show on Monday, December 3rd from 6 - 9 a.m. Where is Paul W. Smith going on this Monday? As a pledge for the "Movember" program, which encourages better awareness of men's health, he's going for his annual physical.
Smith commented, "It's not just about supporting the growth of a fine mustache for 30 days. It's about acting on what we're telling men they need to get better at being proactive about their health."
