• Birach Broadcasting silent WPON AM 1460 Walled Lake was granted a new construction permit to relocate its transmitter/antenna to near W. Maple and Childs Lake Roads in Milford Township; the station recently surrendered a similar permit.


• Bethesda Christian Broadcasting FM translator W291CJ 106.1 Marquette (religious WPFF FM 90.5 Sturgeon Bay, WI) was granted its license to cover for a frequency change from 106.7.



• West Central Michigan Media Ministries was granted Remain Silent Authority for its recently acquired WKKM FM 90.7 Harrison through September 29, 2012.


• The FCC approved Smile FM's acquisition of the construction permit for FM 89.7 Speaker Township (southern Sanilac County, northwest of Port Huron) from Speaker Radio.


• Great Lakes Radio has closed on its purchase of FM translator W286BC 105.1 Marquette from Bethesda Christian Broadcasting.



• The FCC granted the sale of FM translator W243BD 96.5 Beechwood by First Ventures Capital Partners to Lanser Broadcasting. Sale price was $48,500.


• No notable activity for April 3.



• Sinclair Broadcast Group has closed on the purchase of eight TV stations owned by Freedom Communications for $385 million. In Michigan, Sinclair now owns and operates WWMT TV Ch. 3 Kalamazoo and WLAJ TV Ch. 53 Lansing; Sinclair previously owned WSMH TV Ch. 66 Flint in the state.




• The FCC granted the sale of FM translator W227CB 93.3 Alpena to Northern Lights Enterprises from Radio Assist Ministry. Sale price was $15,000.


• No notable activity for April 6.



• Birach Broadcasting is selling Spanish-formattted WSDS AM 1480 Salem Township (near Ypsilanti) for $1.45 million to Vazquez Broadcasting, pending FCC approval and closing. Vazquez Broadcasting has been operating WSDS under a time brokerage agreement for a number of years.


• Good News Media's Religious WLJN-FM 89.9 Traverse City was granted a construction permit to increase power from 39,000 to 100,000 watts; the station will change to a directional pattern.


• WHFB Broadcast Associates is selling Country WHFB-FM 99.9 Benton Harbor to Douglas Road Radio in a transaction valued at $816,000 pending FCC approval and closing.


• World Radio Link is selling FM translator W225BA 92.9 Hastings to Cano's Broadcasting for $27,000 pending FCC approval and closing. The application shows that the translator would rebroadcast Public WVGR-FM 104.1 Grand Rapids.



• Birach Broadcasting is selling regional Mexican formattted WMJH AM 810 Rockford/Grand Rapids and Oldies WOAP AM 1080 Owosso for $1.1 million to Cano's Broadcasting, pending FCC approval and closing. Cano's Broadcasting has been operating WMJH under a time brokerage agreement for a number of years. Both WMJH and WOAP are daytime-only stations.


• The license for WCSY AM 940 South Haven has been canceled by the FCC and the station's call sign deleted from the database. The station, previously owned by Mid-West Family Broadcasting was taken silent in January 2012.
