Fine Tuning:
- Tom Taylor NOW reports that Shila Nathan will be returning to Detroit to co-host mornings on Pop WNIC-FM 100.3 where she'll be reunited with Jay Towers. Shila, let go last month from Wired 96.5 in Philadelphia, spent a relatively short stint with Towers co-hosting 'Motor City Middays' at what was then WKRK-FM 97.1 prior to the station's flip to Sports as WXYT-FM in 2007. Shila would take the role held by Renee Vitale who was fired by WNIC owner Clear Channel yesterday.
- ESPN has reportedly turned Detroit-based commentator Rob Parker's 30-day suspension into an official parting as the network has declined to renew Parker's contract after it expired at the end of 2012. Parker came under fire for racially charged commentary about Washington Redskin's quaterback Robert Griffin III on ESPN's First Take show in mid December.
Detroit Free Press:
I hear you. You have vowed to never watch the Red Wings. Like ever! I understand. Gary Bettman is an idiot, and the players are sweaty idiots, and the owners are greedy idiots, and that lockout was ridiculous, and besides, the Red Wings might struggle this year, anyway.
