Larry Murphy said he was shocked and disappointed to be let go as a broadcaster and studio analyst for Detroit Red Wings games on Fox Sports Detroit. Murphy was informed last week by Greg Hammaren, senior vice president and general manager of FSD, that his services were no longer required. Murphy had worked for the station in some capacity since 2002-03.

An online petition has been created, asking fans of Larry Murphy to show their support: www.ipetitions.com/petition/get-fox-sports-detroit-to-rehire-larry-murphy/. The effort had over 700 signatures within hours of its creation.

 


 

Detroit News:

Larry Murphy certainly didn't see it coming. Murphy said "it came out of the blue" last week when he was released as part of the Red Wings broadcasting crew for Fox Sports Detroit.
