I stayed in my seat and listened politely, though I wanted to jump up and cross-examine the people onstage. Frankly, I couldn't believe what I'd just heard, and it was so important that it needed to be clarified immediately. Could it really be true? I'd been predicting it for years, but when I heard those words, it was like seeing an old friend I loved being knifed in the gut. I felt victimized.

There are a number of reasons why automobile manufacturers may be considering dropping AM/FM radios from the car dashboard. Some of the reasons are things our industry cannot do anything about. But some of the reasons are things we can do something about. AM and FM radio receivers are essential in times of emergencies and our industry needs to amp up everyone's recognition of that.

Saginaw News:

Conservative pundit, author, radio personality and TV host Armstrong Williams will be running Clio-based NBC affiliate WEYI, after making a deal with Sinclair Broadcast Group, according to a report from TVNewsCheck.

GREAT LAKES RADIO Country WFXD/MARQUETTE, MI is rebranding the station. It will now be known as "103 FXD" after dropping the moniker, "EXTREME COUNTRY 103.3."

Fine Tuning:

  • Granite Broadcasting primary MyTV affiliate WMYD-TV Ch. 20 Detroit added NBC's Cozi TV to subchannel 20.2 on Friday, March 8th. Cozi TV primarily features programming from 1950s through the 1980s with a mix of movies and classic TV series but also offers some first-run lifestyle programming. WMYD had previously offered The CoolTV on 20.2 - that programming was dropped in 2012 over payment issues.
