"Bowling for Dollars" fans, have any time to spare this weekend? The public is invited to the taping of the return of the Detroit TV classic.The first taping for the updated "Bowling for Dollars" will start at 1 p.m. Saturday at Thunderbowl Lanes in Allen Park, the original home of the beloved local game show.

Frank Beckmann, the radio voice of Michigan football and host of a daily talk show on WJR-AM (760), today issued an apology for a recent column on golfer Sergio Garcia's reference to "fried chicken" when talking about black golfer Tiger Woods. Beckmann's column in the Detroit News on Friday drew fire from some people who found it racially insensitive.

Detroit News:

After talking with some good friends and reflecting on my Friday Detroit News column, "Sergio Garcia 'chicken' gaffe reveals our thin skin," I think I was off base. In my effort to emphasize my disdain for political correctness, I conflated it with the Sergio Garcia/Tiger Woods situation and that was a mistake on my part.

Congratulations to CBS RADIO Country WYCD/DETROIT, which marked its 20th anniversary YESTERDAY (5/28). In 1993, then-owner ALLIANCE flipped NEWS/TALK WOW-FM to YOUNG COUNTRY, just it had previously done with properties in DALLAS, SEATTLE and SAN FRANCISCO.
