The University of Michigan today condemned an "offensive" newspaper column by U-M football announcer Frank Beckmann, but has taken no disciplinary action against him, despite concern from some members of the U-M Board of Regents over Beckmann's views.

- Trudi Daniels, who had apparently just left the Greater Media/Detroit complex last week with the departure of the Drew and Mike show from Rock WRIF-FM 101.1, is now on board as morning host at sister station Classic Rock WCSX-FM 94.7 as of Monday, June 3rd. She'll be joining Ken Calvert for the 5 - 9 a.m. shift - which will be re-titled to give Daniels co-billing.
Market manager Steve Chessare commented in a release, "The WCSX air staff is a collection of outstanding on-air personalities from Detroit rock radio history. Trudi is an outstanding talent and the perfect choice to co-host the morning show with Ken Calvert. We are thrilled she will continue to remain a part of the Greater Media/Detroit family."
Daniels added, "I spent most of my life going to concerts and had to find some way to keep getting free tickets. I'm also going for the record for shortest radio move -- about 40 yards and across the hall!"
- Tim Roberts, already operations manager for Country WYCD-FM 99.5 and Classic Hits WOMC-FM 104.3 at CBS Radio/Detroit, has added the same responsibility for Top 40 WDZH-FM 98.7 (Amp Radio). Tim Rainey continues on as Program Director for Amp.
Meredith Broadcasting and Channel 5, WNEM have given the 1250-AM radio station to Ave Maria Communications. The former news and talk radio station, which featured syndicated talk shows including Neal Boortz and Dave Ramsey, is off the air. It will begin offering Catholic programming within the next few months.
