Saginaw News:

A huge crowd estimated at 110,000 people biked, walked and boated its way to Saginaw's Ojibway Island to see country music headliner Gary Allan perform his chart-toppers at the KCQ Country Music Fest. The event has drawn country music fans to Saginaw for 22 years and surpassed the Saginaw County Police Department's initial expectations of 90,000.

The coolers have been packed, cowboy hats have been bought and the crowds have gathered as the KCQ Free Country Music Fest kicked off on Saginaw's Ojibway Island. Some fans camped out starting at 8 a.m. on Saturday, June 15, like Saginaw resident Ashley Hummel, 32, who set up chairs for her friends and family next to a willow tree.

Gospel radio host Sam Williams used to end his shows with the phrase, "What on Earth are you doing for Heaven's sake?" Flint radio listeners have been able to answer that question for him for more than 50 years as he hosted his Sam Williams Sunday Morning Gospel Show for more than five decades.

  • A memorial celebration for former WGVU AM morning host / Program Director Bill Bailey will be held Sunday, June 23 at the Eberhard Center, 301 Fulton St., Grand Rapids, Michigan, from 1pm - 5pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to operationhomefront.net. Donations provide aid to service members' families. The family welcomes memories and messages in their guest book online at mlive.com which will be active on Friday, June 21.
