Detroit sports fans who want to talk sports and hear coach and player interviews from the city's four pro teams had a new midday option Tuesday with the debut of the "Ryan and Rico" show on the new Detroit Sports 105.1 FM. Consider it a statement from the station - one of five with a sports talk format in Detroit - that it's ready to compete in a crowded marketplace.

Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon is not in any rush to hire a football play-by-play radio announcer to replace Frank Beckmann, who will retire after this season. Beckmann is entering his 34th season as Michigan's play-by-play voice.

A local country music radio station will take up residence at Heritage Landing on Saturday, Aug. 17, for its annual Moose Fest. Moose Fest, put on by 107WMUS, will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday and continue throughout the day with seven country music acts.
