Grand Rapids Press:

WZZM 13 is in the market for news director. The Gannett-owned, ABC-TV affiliate in Grand Rapids has posted an ad for a news director "who knows how to differentiate a station from the competition."

Detroit News:

They were connected by death, and later by victory. By a bullet from a pistol, and then by a Pulitzer Prize. Dennis Grehl was only defending himself and the assistant frantically emptying the cash register at the little pharmacy in Northwest Detroit. Angelo Henderson was only doing what reporters do.

  • Raised: Over $1.1 million in pledges during last Friday's Bed & Bread Club Radiothon heard on Cumulus Media's News-Talk WJR AM 760 Detroit. The 16-hour broadcast was hosted by WJR's Paul W. Smith and Frank Beckmann who were joined by retired jock Dick Purtan.

  • Nominated: For Crystal Awards from the National Association of Broadcasters, Lenawee Broadcasting's Adult Contemporary WLEN-FM 103.9 Adrian along with CBS Radio/Detroit's Country WYCD-FM 99.5 and All-News WWJ AM 950. The trio are among 50 stations nationwide recognized as finalists; winners will be announced in April.
