A mega-merger/buyout in TV to affect Michigan stations
Media General, owner of CBS affiliate WLNS-TV Ch. 6 and ABC affiliate WLAJ-TV Ch. 53 in the Lansing market, will buyout LIN Media, owner of NBC affiliate WOOD-TV Ch. 8, ABC affiliate WOTV-TV Ch. 41, and low power MyNetwork affiliate WXSP-CD Ch. 15 in the Grand Rapids/Kalamazoo/Battle Creek market in a deal valued at $1.6 billion.
The transaction, once approved and closed, would create the second largest pure-play TV company in the country.
