CBS Local/Detroit:

A big change has been announced for University of Michigan play-by-play. The U-M Athletic Department announced Thursday that college and NFL Hall of Fame player and broadcaster Dan Dierdorf will be joining Jim Brandstatter in the radio booth for University of Michigan football broadcasts on the Michigan IMG Radio Network beginning this fall.

Fine Tuning:

  • According to the Denver Post, NBC affiliate WILX-TV Ch. 10 Lansing will add Kirk Montgomery as an anchor, reportedly for a new 4 p.m newscast. Montgomery moves to Lansing from KUSA-TV in Denver where he was working as an entertainment reporter.

 


 

Detroit News:

Dan Dierdorf, the NFL Hall of Famer and former Michigan All-American offensive lineman, had spoken many times about his desire to someday call a few series of a Wolverines game from the radio booth with his old teammate, Jim Brandstatter. He'll be doing more than that.

When Michigan announced last summer that Frank Beckmann would retire from doing radio play-by-play for football games, most thoughts about successors were conventional. But as with many decisions by U-M athletic department, today's announcement was anything but.
