Tuesday announced that it is creating two publicly traded companies -- one focused on broadcasting and digital businesses, the other on its publishing division, which includes websites and newspapers ... Gannett owns USA Today as well as the Detroit Free Press, its largest Sunday newspaper, and other media sites in Michigan -- including the Lansing State Journal, the Port Huron Times Herald, the Battle Creek Enquirer, the Livingston County Daily Press & Argus, the Observer & Eccentric weekly newspapers in metro Detroit, and WZZM 13 in Grand Rapids.

Michigan Radio's State of Opportunity initiative was recognized by the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) with a Salute to Excellence Award this past weekend.
