  • Cumulus Media/Detroit yesterday issued a release on the launch of 'Nash Icon' on WDRQ-FM 93.1 HD2. Here it is in its entirety:

Cumulus announces that WDRQ 93-1 FM HD-2 has launched this afternoon as the all-new NASH ICON 93-1 HD 2. NASH ICON is a new distribution platform for Country music's most iconic artists, driven by Country music fans' desire for more exposure to their all-time favorite artists. The NASH ICON format features artists from Reba McEntire, Rascal Flatts and the Dixie Chicks to Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, Martina McBride and Kenny Chesney. NASH ICON format features local on-air personalities and provides advertisers the opportunity to engage with the passionate Country fan base across a multi-media platform that spans radio, television digital, magazine and live events. NASH ICON 93-1 HD 2 is one of the first 15 Cumulus stations in the U.S. to offer this brand new format to radio listeners and Country music lovers. NASH ICON is an important complement to the more contemporary artists that are heard on NASH, its sister brand.

Robby Bridges, Program Director, said: "We are thrilled to bring the Motor City Detrot's Hottest Country Hits on NASH FM 93-1 and now Country's most iconic stars on NASH ICON 93-1 HD 2."

NASH ICON's national headquarters is at Cumulus' state-of-the-art NASH Campus in Nashville, the nation's only multi-media facility devoted solely to producing and distributing content based on the Country music lifestyle. Featuring three studios designed for a combination of TV and radio programming, indoor and outdoor event space, a print newsroom and extensive office space, leading Country stars such as Taylor Swift, Brad Paisley, Lady Antebellum and Sheryl Crow are among the early visitors.

The NASH ICON record label and live events venture was announced by Cumulus and its strategic partner in the venture, Big Machine Label Group, in May. NASH ICON, a strategic partnership between the two entertainment and media leaders, was created to expand the growing NASH platform by showcasing Nashville's most iconic talent from the last 25 years.

Cumulus created the NASH entertainment brand based on the Country music lifestyle in 2013 starting with flagship radio station NASH FM 94.7 in New York City, which has rapidly become one of the most-listened-to Country stations in the nation.
