At one o'clock this afternoon Traverse City's WLDR-FM 101.9, along with simulcast partners WBNZ-FM 92.3 Frankfort and WARD AM 750 Petoskey, switched formats to from Country to Adult Contemporary and rebranded itself as "101.9 The Bay". The change ends ten years in the country format.

"Country is a fantastic format", comments General Manager David Barr, "Unfortunately it's the kind of music that doesn't have mass appeal in offices and retail stores. Since we dropped AC a decade ago, there has been a hole in Traverse City for this type of music", said Barr. "We are excited to be a part of your office again".

WLDR has one of the strongest radio signals in Northern Michigan's largest city. The tower is located on radio hill just west of town. During 2015, WLDR will celebrate 50-years of service on the air.
