Nexstar Broadcasting Group announced today that its CBS affiliate WJMN Marquette, Mich. (DMA 180), will launch two weekday newscasts beginning in April. Branded as "Local 3," the newscasts will air Monday through Friday at 6 and 11 p.m. in full HD. Local 3 News will originate from a new, state-of-the-art broadcast facility currently under construction just west of Marquette, in what will become WJMN-TV Plaza.

  • Greater Media/Detroit Classic Rock WCSX-FM 94.7 has partnered with the USPS to help unveil the post office's new stamp honoring rock legend Jimi Hendrix.   • Congratulations to all the Michigan Association of Broadcasters 2013 award winners - Station of the Year honors were announced on Wednesday in Lansing at MAB's annual awards banquet.

The Wayne County prosecutor has declined to file charges against journalist Charlie LeDuff for his involvement in a 2013 brawl during the St. Patrick's Day Parade.

Michael Patrick Shiels will broadcast his syndicated morning radio and television show live from Ireland on St. Patrick's Day. "Michigan's Big Show starring Michael Patrick Shiels" will originate Monday from the Dromoland Castle Hotel and Country Estate, in County Clare, near Shannon.

ENVISION NETWORKS is now distributing MOJO IN THE MORNING, the morning show from WKQI/DETROIT where "imperfect people laugh about life and themselves." The morning crew includes host MOJO, SPIKE and SHANNON. "For years I've been told by programmers that our show would sound great in their market. Well, now it can be!" said MOJO. "We are excited to offer our show nationally."

Good News Media also owns and operates religious-formatted stations WLJN-FM/AM 89.9 / 1400 Elmwood Twp/Traverse City and WLJW AM 1370 Cadillac.

  • WUPG-FM 96.7 Republic/Ishpeming has reportedly changed format from a simulcast of Classic Hits WUPT-FM 100.3 Gwinn/Marquette to a Classic Country/Lifestyle format as 96.7 Yooper Country. The station is owned by Radioactive, LLC but has a Local Marketing Agreement with Kent Smith's radio group that operates a number of 'Radio Eagle' stations in the Upper and Northern Lower Peninsulas.

An attorney representing the family of radio host Angelo Henderson said the Oakland Medical Examiner's Office misdiagnosed his cause of death following a private autopsy conducted by his family An independent autopsy performed last month by forensic pathologist Dr. Werner Spitz indicated Henderson died of a coronary embolism that originated in his leg Feb. 15 in his home in Pontiac, attorney Arnold Reed said.
