  • More flipping: WMJH AM 810 Rockford/Grand Rapids has changed its format from Classic Hits to Regional Mexican with the resignation of Program Director and Chief Engineer Tony "Boomer" Burkhead. A detailed announcement of the change was posted on Facebook.

  • On the air: Low Power FM station WRWW-LP 92.3 Lowell operated by students at Lowell High School. The station features a variety of music programming and events such as Lowell High School football and band concerts. The station's web site, which includes webcasting, is lowellradio.org.

 

 

 

Grand Rapids Press:

WZZM-TV 13 has a new meteorologist, and she is as familiar with West Michigan weather as anyone could be. Laura Hartman, a native of Ionia, debuted Sunday on the ABC-TV affiliate serving Grand Rapids and West Michigan.

Muskegon Chronicle:

A familiar voice is gracing the airwaves of Muskegon's newest radio station. Andy O'Riley, who has been in radio for more than 25 years, is serving as host of Muskegon 100.9 FM WFFR's morning show. The station, a nonprofit venture established by Shoreline Broadcasting, launched on Monday, Oct. 13. Joining O'Riley for the station's on-air lineup are 20-year radio veteran Bill Marshall and Matt Hendricks, an 18-year radio veteran who has been involved with radio since the age of 15.

Local 4 health reporter Dr. Frank McGeorge hosts an hour-long prime-time special chronicling a team of surgeons and nurses from metro Detroit who go to Kenya to provide medical care for hundreds of Kenyans. Care & Hope: Proud Detroit Exports follows a young orphan named Enoch as he meets the strangers from Detroit, receives life-saving surgery and bids them a heartwarming goodbye.

  • On the air: New Low Power FM station WFFR-LP 100.9 serving Muskegon with a Classic Hits format. The station, which can be heard via the Internet at www.muskegonradio.com features veteran West Michigan jock Andy O'Reily in morning drive.

  • Cumulus Media/Detroit Country WDRQ-FM 93.1 (Nash FM) has given away nearly $10,000 in "Secret Star NASH CASH" as the station leads in to it's first Secret Star Concert to be held Thursday, October 16th at the Andiamo Showroom in Warren. The secret country star will be revealed when the lights dim and the star is revealed on stage.

    "The excitement has been building toward the big reveal and I know when it happens it's going to be the kind of special once in a lifetime experience we are thrilled to offer our NASH FM listeners!" said NASH FM 93-1 WDRQ Program Director Robby Bridges.

The September 11 terrorist attacks that shocked everyone and changed lives will also go down as one of the most memorable days in WSNX-FM DJ Eric O'Brien's radio career. O'Brien's 15 years on Grand Rapids' airwaves ended on Friday, and on Monday, he'll join MLive Media Group as the company's director of marketing, a hire that Nick Dionne, senior director of sales and marketing at MLive, says should be a perfect fit.

  • Adult Contemporary/Full Service WLEN-FM 103.9 Adrian has purchased an FM translator that broadcasts in Adrian at 96.5 from Spring Arbor University. WLEN owner Lenawee Broadcasting is investing $115,000 on the purchase of the 120-watt translator.
