Notes/History:
- 9/14/2009: Classic rock format is changed to mainstream rock, simulcast with WGFN 98.1 Glen Arbor is dropped, and partial simulcast with WJZJ 95.5 Glen Arbor begins. WGFM and WJZJ simulcast with the exception of mornings when 95.5 airs 'Free Beer & Hot Wings' syndicated out of Grand Rapids and 105.1 continues to air 'Bob & Tom' syndicated out of Indianapolis which is still also heard on WGFN 98.1.
- 10/2008: License to cover granted for construction permit granted in Sept 2007.
- 9/2007: Construction permit granted to change effective radiated power from 100,000 watts @ 610 feet to 43,000 watts @ 968 feet and relocate the transmitter from central Cheboygan county to the southeast part of Charlevoix county. The changes will effectively shift the station's coverage area southwest.
- 2/1/2002: WIHC-FM 97.9 Newberry is added to simulcast (now on 4 stations: WGFM, WGFN 98.1, WCKC 107.1, and WIHC 97.9)
- 9/15/1998: Station is transferred from Calibre Communications to Northern Star Broadcasting
- 199x: Format switch from Oldies/Gold to Classic Rock
- 1989: Station is purchased by Del and Mary Reynolds; format change to Oldies as 'Gold FM'
- 1988: Power increase to 100,000 watts.
- 19xx: As WQLZ, format is Top 40
- 1968: WCBY-FM 105.1 first signs on with 25,000 watts, owner is Richard E. Hunt who also owns WCBY AM 1240 Cheboygan, WSOO AM 1230, and also WSUE-FM 101.3 Sault Ste Marie.
