- 4/2011: WGPR adds HD-2 and HD-3 subchannels, leased by Radio Power which simulcasts the programming on its FM translators at 94.3 and 104.7 FM in Detroit. Format of WGPR HD2 is Smooth Jazz; WGPR HD3 is Modern Rock.
- 2/4/2002: Format shifts from mainstream Urban Adult Contemporary to Smooth Jazz with mix of Soft Urban Adult Contemporary. Station maintains 'The Rhythm' positioner.
- 7/1995: WGPR-TV is sold to CBS which renames it WWJ-TV. WGPR-TV became Detroit's CBS television affiliate in 1994 after the former affilate, WJBK Channel 2, elected to go with the FOX network.
- 1975: Sister station WGPR-TV 62 begins operations- first black-owned TV station in the United States
- 12/6/1961: Station on air as WGPR-FM with format targeted toward an urban audience. First Michigan FM station to operate full-time and a pioneer black-owned broadcaster.

W284BQ 104.7 translator Notes/History:
- 10/2011: W284BQ is silent due to interference issues with WIOT-FM 104.7 Toledo.
- 8/2011: W284BQ 104.7 granted a construction permit to change frequency to 93.9 as W230BT and decrease height to 33 from 925 feet. Windosr, Ontario's CIDR-FM also operates on 93.9 making it likely this is planned as part of multi-step process to change this translator's frequency.
- 4/2011: Station begins regular operations with Smooth Jazz format as '104.7 The Oasis', simulcasting WGPR-HD2.
