Notes/History:

• 4/2011: WGPR adds HD-2 and HD-3 subchannels, leased by Radio Power which simulcasts the programming on its FM translators at 94.3 and 104.7 FM in Detroit. Format of WGPR HD2 is Smooth Jazz; WGPR HD3 is Modern Rock.
• 2/4/2002: Format shifts from mainstream Urban Adult Contemporary to Smooth Jazz with mix of Soft Urban Adult Contemporary. Station maintains 'The Rhythm' positioner.
• 7/1995: WGPR-TV is sold to CBS which renames it WWJ-TV. WGPR-TV became Detroit's CBS television affiliate in 1994 after the former affilate, WJBK Channel 2, elected to go with the FOX network.
• 1975: Sister station WGPR-TV 62 begins operations- first black-owned TV station in the United States
• 12/6/1961: Station on air as WGPR-FM with format targeted toward an urban audience. First Michigan FM station to operate full-time and a pioneer black-owned broadcaster.

• 4/2011: License to cover granted for move to 94.3 Detroit; station begins regular operations with Modern Rock format as '94.3 The Bone', simulcasting WGPR-HD3.
• 9/2010: Construction permit granted to change frequency to 94.3, community of license to Detroit, move further south within Oakland County and modify power to 99 watts. The application states the translator would rebroadcast WRCJ-FM 90.9 Detroit.
• 9/2010: Construction permit granted to change community of license to Rochester Hills, move further south into Oakland County and modify power to 250 watts. The application states the translator would rebroadcast WRCJ-FM 90.9 Detroit. License to cover granted in October 2010.
• 5/2010: Construction permit granted to change community of license to Oxford, move south into Oakland County and modify power to 125 watts. The application states the translator would rebroadcast WCRZ-FM 107.9 Flint -- it is currently silent. License to cover granted in May 2010.
• 1/2010: Construction permit granted to change community of license to Metamora, move south within Lapeer county, and increase power from 10 to 250 watts. • 1/2010: Sale of translator from Edgewater Broadcasting to Radio Power is approved by the FCC.

• 6/2007: Construction permit for W284AY 104.7 modified to specify FM 93.9 as W230BI.

W284BQ 104.7 translator Notes/History:

• 10/2011: W284BQ is silent due to interference issues with WIOT-FM 104.7 Toledo.
• 8/2011: W284BQ 104.7 granted a construction permit to change frequency to 93.9 as W230BT and decrease height to 33 from 925 feet. Windosr, Ontario's CIDR-FM also operates on 93.9 making it likely this is planned as part of multi-step process to change this translator's frequency.
• 4/2011: Station begins regular operations with Smooth Jazz format as '104.7 The Oasis', simulcasting WGPR-HD2.
• 8/2010: Construction permit granted to change its location from Warren to Royal Oak Township, increase power from 50 to 250 watts, and change community of license to Detroit; license to cover granted 1/2011.
• 4/2010: Construction permit to change location within southern Macomb County and increase power from 10 to 50 watts; license to cover granted 5/2010.
• 2009: Radio Power is acquiring FM translator W284BQ 104.7 Warren from Radio Assist Ministry for $40,000 pending FCC approval and closing. FCC approves sale in December 2009 and it closes in January 2010.
