- Nov and Dec, 2009: FM translator W279AP 103.7 granted construction permits to move first to FM 93.1 as W226BJ then to FM 92.7 as W224BZ. On 92.7, the translator will increase power to 212 watts @ 200 feet with a directional antenna co-located with WION. License to cover move to 93.1 with 1 watt granted in December, 2009 and license to cover move to 92.7 granted March, 2010.
- 11/2009: License granted to change daytime power from 5,000 watts using a 3-tower array (directional) to 4,700 watts using a single tower (omnidirectional).
- 8/2009: Packer Radio WION, LLC is purchasing FM translator W279AP 103.7 Ionia from Horizon Christian Fellowship pending FCC approval and closing. Packer Radio plans on rebroadcasting its full service WION AM 1430 Ionia on the translator. Sale is approved in October 2009.
- 5/2007: Construction permit granted to change daytime power from 5,000 watts using a 3-tower array (directional) to 4,700 watts using a single tower
(omnidirectional).
- 2004: Station is sold by Agricultural Resource Group to Packer Radio WION, LLC for $127,000. Station returns to the air with a Full Service format.
- 2004: Sale to Stafford Broadcasting Agricultural Resource Group falls through.
- 9/2003: Station is taken off-air and will remain so while sale is reviewed by FCC. The sales agreement reached in August has not yet been approved by the FCC due to the fact Stafford requires a waiver of the radio-newspaper cross-ownership rule in order to take over control of the station. Stafford owns The Daily News newspaper, which serves part of the coverage area of WION.
- 8/2003: Station is sold by Agricultural Resource Group to Stafford Broadcasting for $100,000, pending FCC approval
- 8/1999: Station assets are acquired by Agricultural Resource Group for $111,000 as part of a bankruptcy proceeding
